21 November to 1 December 2024
Rome / Cagliari / Perugia
Ega promotes and participates in the third edition of the festival "Incontri con il cinema infermieristica Buddhista". This year the cities where the festival will be present are: Rome, Cagliari and Perugia.
The meetings present films from interesting countries of Buddhist tradition with a focus on the contradictions present also in the Buddhist world generally perceived as an oasis of peace by the Western world.
For example in Myanmar ethnic political conflicts have also exploded between two communities both Buddhist.
In other films we have observed how "Buddhist" is the fruitful relationship between man and nature.
The 2024 film by the New Zealand director Peter Lom tells the story of the success of the Maori people's commitment to have their sacred river recognized as an entity with the legal personality of a human citizen. In the world for the first time a parliament of a nation confers this status to a natural asset. The film "I am the river, the river is me" represents a stage in how a Buddhist principle of equal rights for all sentient beings is affirmed.
EGA, in its mission to bridge different cultures and identities between Europe and Asia, finds in these films a further tool of cultural soft power.
Event organized by the Maitreya Foundation, Festival Asiatica in partnership with EGA - European Gate to Arts
