Ruggero Lenci - Exhibition Curator
The opportunity to have Roma Butman in Rome for his solo-exhibition and to take care of it as a curator is a great privilege given the quality of his art, which improves year after year. I saw some of his works that he had presented at the EGA Gallery in Sofia in 2022, which had struck me for the depth of the introspective excavation that he had managed to operate through a dozen self-portraits taken as a pretext to manifest his sensitivity as an artist. His face, already so expressive by nature, had on that occasion become the palette to show a quantity of different emo-tions of the soul, ranging from happiness to disappointment, to joy for unconditional good to sadness, to tears of love for others.

Roma Butman - Painter
The exhibition: "Roma in Rome - HaMeshotetisty in the City." This exhibition is the result of practical research conducted over a year, between 2024 and 2025. The research deals with the development of a creative process, as a tool based on "inner wandering."
Gradually, the elements multiply, and the combination of them creates an emotional challenge. Here begins a process of wandering on paper, which awakens my imagination, allowing me to see images within the spots, shapes, and colors, and interpret them. As the development progresses, the excitement intensifies and reveals within me a mixture of images from the unconscious. To capture them, I sharpen the connection between what I feel and what I see on paper. When communication between images and emotions reaches its peak, I experience such a powerful emotional surge and something new and wondrous is revealed to me. This can happen endlessly during the creative process, and it ends when the painting fully expresses the emotion within me.
I first understood this creative process when I met Paolo Palomba, the president of E.G.A. in 2022, during a visit to the "Vitrina" gallery he runs in the Bulgarian capital, Sofia. After a two-minute acquaintance, Paolo invited me to do an exhibition at the gallery and I immediately agreed. The gallery space became my studio and throughout the exhibition I painted. The small room in my house, where I would look into a mirror, became an entire city. I felt like I was doing research in a laboratory.

TAL SHALOM BUTMAN - Art Psychologist Researcher
“HaMeshotetisty” is a theoretical concept, a formula and a mechanism—serving as a model for the creative process, inspired by Roma Butman and his Artworks. The model consists of four elements, all encapsulated in a single word: The wanderer (Flâneur); Inner wandering; Artistic; Mystic.
HaMeshotetisty offers a model intended for any artist, researcher, individual. The process begins as a Wanderer (flâneur), meandering through artistic expression—word, sound, colour, or for,m much like a character strolling through a city without a predetermined destination. The accumulation of these artistic expressions awakens an Inner wandering within the creator: emotions become alleyways, flashes of thought and memory form streets, sweeping the artist along their own unique path toward previously uncharted experiences and revelations -
unrepeatable combinations and new meanings. In this state, an intense relationship is formed between inner wandering and the Artistic - the ability to translate what is hidden from sight into constructive artistic action. When this synthesis reaches its peak, the Mystic emerges - a secret that lends the creation a magical layer.

PAOLO PALOMBA - EGTANIA EGA President
The Roman exhibition was born from that intuition and materialises thanks to a long journey shared with Ruggero Lenci and Roberto Lucifero, two central figures in Roman culture who have understood the value of the research conducted by a very sensitive artist, Roma Butman, and a university researcher in the field of art, Tali Shalom Butman, who invented this complex word Meshotetisty and HaMeshotetisty (the first bird-man and the second bird-man Roma Butman). An artist that, with his open eye can perform an urban wandering thanks to the freedom he has been gifted with by the wings of his mind. With their interpretative sensitiveness, Ruggero Lenci and Roberto Lucifero - one an architect-artist, the other an anthropologist, founder of Cappella Orsini - have created the conditions to welcome and enhance this project_ The exhibition thus finds its home in a space rich in history and visions, an ideal place to study and observe in its unfolding through a live creative laboratory — now also in Rome as it happens in Sofia — the open and multicultu-ral language of Roma Butman.

ROBERTO LUCIFERO - Anthropologist and President  of "FONDAZIONE OPERA LUCIFERO"
Roma Butman's works are always portraits that sometimes represent people and sometimes open spaces, but always within the logic of the portrait. His idea of representation is therefore always attributable to the desire to re-present people or spaces by interpreting them in an emotional way. Apparently, he uses a language sometimes similar to that of the futurists or cubists, but it is a mere pretext to investigate the subject that has attracted his attention, with respect to which one form of expression or another can only be more suitable to interpret his thoughts on the matter. The dreamlike dimension definitely takes the lion's share and the ambiguity between realism and imagination brings Roma closer to the surrealists in some way, who have sistematically resorted to dreams.
